Anyone can practice mindful meditation. Take time to learn yourself and your thoughts without the chaos of the world. Take yourself away from time to time, just you and your deep breaths. Im no expert but my first time in group mindful meditation was the greatest experience Ive had in a while. It was as if nothing mattered except for what I wanted to matter. I closed my eyes for 20 minutes, and just focused on my breathing. (As much as I could, my ADD kept getting the best of me) It was momentary emptiness that I thoroughly enjoyed. Afterwards we passed around a unique object and each person shared any thoughts/feelings they had. It was powerful, a relief, grounding, and impressive. For in all of my years, I have never encountered such an experience. People sharing what I would consider to be their most sacred and intimate thoughts. It was a comfortable, and safe space amidst a room full of strangers. I was blessed to make so many connections after the session. If you are ever in Richmond, Virginia, look-up Group Meditation with Dr. David Johnson.
Your Challenge: With a trusting partner or alone, close your eyes and alternate between slow deep breaths and regular deep breaths for 10 minutes. (Start with 10 minutes to get in the habit) Afterwards speak aloud your current thoughts and/or feelings. I promise it will alter your stressful or irritated state.
